At Priory Adult Care, we believe that everyone has the right to live the life that they choose for themselves. Our specialist support enables people to live happy and fulfilling lives in their own homes, with their own tenancies.

Across the UK, our supported living services help adults with a range of needs to live independently and safely in their local communities. This includes individuals with autism, brain injuries, learning disabilities, Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), forensic needs, mental health needs and those who present with behaviours that may challenge.

We work in a person-centred way, which means that our support and care is completely bespoke, and perfectly matched to the unique needs, preferences and aspirations of each individual.

Care pathways

At Priory we have developed our range of services to provide unique and individual care pathways for those we support. This puts the focus on the individual receiving a seamless transition as they progress between our higher and lower dependency services. Read about how Priory Care Pathways can support individuals throughout the country.

“I have started making positive plans for the future and with staff support I have applied for a job. This is the best placement for me so far in my life and I love it here.”

Specialist teams delivering high quality support and care

We work closely with landlords to ensure that our residents receive the highest standards of care and support within housing accommodation. Our staff teams have significant expertise in supporting people with complex needs and include dedicated positive behaviour support (PBS) specialists and an Assessment and Transition Director for Complex Autism.

The Reach Standards are also embedded across our supported living services. Our aim is to empower individuals to make their own choices about how they live their lives, but to be supported to do that when that may become difficult. Our staff take the time to really get to know each person and to understand their needs, interests and goals. They provide the care and support which sees residents improve their wellbeing and independence and achieve their potential.

Priory Adult Care’s supported living services across the UK are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Care Inspectorate (CI) and Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW). They are also overseen by our own internal quality teams, ensuring a robust and responsive approach that means that we support people in the best possible way.

Providing person-centred support

At Priory Adult Care, our residents are at the heart of everything that we do. We work in partnership with each person, agreeing together how we will support them to be as independent as possible, both in their own home and their local community. We also listen to the views of their families and the professionals who may be supporting them.

Each individual receives emotional and physical support from a specialist staff team who are trained to meet their specific needs. We carefully match our team members to each person so that we can nurture trusting and positive relationships. With individually tailored support from people they feel comfortable and secure with, tenants quickly grow in confidence.

Support is available from a few hours a week to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including 1:1 support. We provide help across a range of areas to enable individuals to lead more enriching and fulfilling lives. This includes:

  • Community inclusion
  • Domestic tasks such as cooking, cleaning and shopping
  • Personal care
  • Taking medication
  • Managing finances and budgeting
  • 24-hour on-call support service for the support team
  • Supporting with finding day time activities and employment/voluntary work
  • Helping with claiming and managing benefits
  • Accessing leisure and social activities
  • Maintaining links with family and friends, and establishing new relationships
  • Supporting healthy lifestyles

“They have been incredibly supportive for all of our family and have enabled us to understand more about our relative’s condition.”

A range of accommodation options available

Priory Adult Care has established partnerships with housing providers across the UK and we are proud of the quality and range of our accommodation schemes. Our partners include Chrysalis Supported Association Ltd and Inclusion Housing. We offer self-contained apartments and bungalows, shared living and completely bespoke solutions, with accommodation adapted to meet individual needs.

All of our tenants’ homes are comfortable and modern, with many having assistive technology services incorporated into the buildings to maximise independence for residents. Our supported living services are located within communities, so they have easy access to amenities and transport links.

By understanding each person’s needs and aspirations, we can agree together the type of accommodation and locations that might work best for them. We can provide help with tenancy agreements where needed, giving people the security of their own homes. If an individual wishes to live with others, we match them with people who have shared interests and lifestyles.

Smooth transitions to more independent living

We know that the move to supported living can feel like a big step, which is why we carefully plan each transition so that it is completely tailored to the individual’s needs. We are focussed on ensuring that the move to our services is a smooth and positive experience for each new resident.

For some people this means a gradual transition over a number of months to minimise any anxiety and ensure that they are looking forward to the journey ahead. Throughout the process our friendly and dedicated staff team offer support, advice and encouragement.

Achieving positive outcomes

Priory Adult Care’s supported living services give people greater choice and control over how they live their lives, empowering them to achieve the best possible outcomes. By providing individually tailored support that is regularly reviewed and monitored, we encourage each person to reach their true potential. Our residents become more independent, find employment and fully integrate into their communities.
