Brain Injury Services

Priory Adult Care provides person-centred neurorehabilitation and support services for people living with an acquired brain injury (ABI), traumatic brain injury (TBI) or progressive neurological condition (PNC).

Situated in safe, caring and homely settings, our services are tailored and developed specifically to cater for our residents' individual needs and improve their quality of life. Our aim is to promote independence and to help the people that we support back into the community, where possible.

An environment supporting recovery

Our individualised and personal treatment programmes focus on helping our residents to regain and develop physical, cognitive, behavioural, emotional, communication and social functions during their rehabilitation journey.

We work towards enabling residents to take control of their lives and where possible, towards a level of independence which fits with their confidence and aspirations. To further assist this process, we offer a range of community-based activities to develop our residents’ independence skills. These may include:

  • Education opportunities
  • Voluntary work placements
  • Attending day centres
  • Workshop placements
  • Various sporting and social activities

Our specialist multidisciplinary teams

Across our Brain Injury Services, we have highly skilled and established multidisciplinary teams, who work together to achieve a range of positive outcomes and maximise the independence of the people that we support. Depending on the service, our teams can include:

  • Neuropsychologists
  • Clinical psychiatrist
  • Occupational therapists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Speech and language therapists (SaLTs)
  • Qualified nurses
  • Therapy assistants
  • Experienced service managers
  • Support workers

Integrated pathways to supported living

At Priory Adult Care, we also provide a range of supported living solutions across the UK. Where appropriate, the people that we support within our Brain Injury Services can benefit from the care pathways we are able to offer, and transfer seamlessly to a supported living model. This is delivered by our supported living (SYI) services, which are registered with the appropriate regulator.

The supported living model operates across England, Scotland and Wales and is key to further developing the levels of independence of the people we support, within their own home or in the community. Placements are flexible and can be tailored to suit the needs of the individual.
