Reablement and convalescence services

Our Priory Adult Care homes offer a range of care services that helps recovery and rebuilds independence. We provide residential and nursing care to older people following illness or surgery, managing their recovery to help to reduce the risk of complications and further hospital admissions.

Our service programme

The programme is about helping people to 'do things for themselves' rather than 'having things done for them'. Our short term support following an illness or operation, prepares our residents to go back home and to continue to live independently by supporting them with the skills necessary for daily living. The programme may last from as little as a few days to a couple of weeks and progress is reviewed on an on-going basis.

Post-operative care is similar to convalescent care but involves additional care. An example of post-operative care would be after a major surgical procedure, such as a hip replacement operation. Often older people are discharged from hospital but are not yet mobile enough to look after themselves in their own home. We can help by providing specialist care in one of our nursing homes.

Our specialist care services

We offer a range of reablement and convalescence services to meet the needs of the individuals we support. This includes:

  • Individualised care plans structured around the person
  • Flexible residential and 24 hour nursing care tailored to the needs of the individual
  • Residents and family involvement initiatives
  • High quality and supportive care in a comfortable environment

She was in the right place

"On the visits to the care home I always found the carers to be very friendly and welcoming, I found that being able to visit any time was very good. My Nan was always very happy and this confirmed to me that she was in the right place.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank the staff at the home for all the hard work they put in to make the residents of the home happy."
