Woodthorpe Lodge care home in Chesterfield has been rated as 'good' for the quality of care it provides by the independent watchdog. In its latest report, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) praised the home's "trained", "experienced" and "caring" staff.
The home provides support and rehabilitation for individuals who have mental health conditions and behaviours that challenge.
A person the home supports told the CQC: "I talk with staff if I'm anxious; they're good staff here." The inspectors "saw staff support people in a relaxed and caring manner" and with "kindness and respect". A member of staff told inspectors, "I love my job"
The inspectors said: "People were supported by staff who were trained and experienced to provide their care. One person told us that the staff supporting them were well-trained and understood how to provide the care they needed." The CQC praised the nature of the training available to staff, including managing positive behaviour training accredited by the British Institute of Learning Disabilities.
Residents have their bedrooms personalised with their chosen colours and furnishings. Staff place importance on having person centred care plans, which ensure that resident's preferences are considered during every aspect of their care.
