Woodhouse Cottage in East Ardsley, Wakefield, has been praised by independent inspectors for the quality of care it offers to residents with learning disabilities and autism.
In its latest report, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) praised Woodhouse Cottage for promoting "independence and community involvement", "maintaining people's dignity and privacy", and being a "comfortable home".
The CQC praised the home's 'Your Voice' meetings, where residents have the chance to raise any comments or ideas they have about the running of the home, because "feedback influenced what happened at the service."
The home is an environment where "staff felt well supported in their role." A member of staff said they "felt listened to and could contribute ideas or raise concerns if they had any." Another said, "I really enjoy my job, best one I have had."
All residents have an individualised programme. Residents are encouraged to go on outings, and to undertake activities of their choosing. One of the resident's mothers said staff have supported her son in his hobby and provided him with a cabinet to display items in.
