In its latest report, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) praised The Shieling for having staff that have a "good understanding of the needs of each person" and for having a registered manager "who encourages open communication with people and relatives". The home was rated 'good' across the board by the CQC.
The CQC said, "We saw staff had a good understanding of the needs of each person". One person supported by The Shieling said, "I like my keyworker".
The CQC said: "people were actively encouraged and supported with their hobbies, interests and we spoke with one person who said they enjoyed supporting a local football team... Other people were supported to work in the wider community."
The people who are supported at The Shieling can attend 'Your Voice' meetings where they can share any thoughts or ideas they may have.
Emmie Duncan, deputy home manager said: "I am thrilled that we have been rated 'good' by the CQC. Everyone is proud of our achievement, and we will continue to do our utmost for the people we support."
