People supported by the service tell inspectors that staff are “kind, friendly and respectful”

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors were full of praise for a supported living service, Priory Supported Living Kent, which assists people to live independently in their own homes across the South East.

In its report, following an inspection, the CQC highlighted how the people supported by Priory Supported Living Kent “had forged good relationships with staff so they felt they were comfortable and felt well treated”. People said “they were cared for by staff who knew their needs well”. The service was rated good overall and in each of five categories, “is the service safe?”, “effective”, “caring”, “responsive” and “well-led”.

The CQC said, “People described their care positively. Staff we spoke with had the right attitude to care and were committed to delivering compassionate care. People told us that staff were kind, friendly and respectful.”

They continued by saying, “Another person said, ‘Staff, they’re nice. They’re good, they do help me, yes’…. Another person said, ‘I like it here, it’s my home’.”

Inspectors said the staff they spoke with “were friendly and happy to provide care… We observed that people were supported by caring staff that were sensitive in manner and approach to their needs. Staff described how they delivered friendly compassionate care.”

Staff support people to go on outings and take part in activities they enjoy. A person supported by the service said to inspectors, “I am planning to go to New Romney to do some shopping. Sometimes on Sundays I go to church”. Another person said, “I’ve got an electric scooter if I want to go out. I go out with staff, or on my own and come back when I want.”
