Support Workers to earn £9.90 an hour in line with the Real Living Wage

From 1 July 2022, all Priory support workers in our adult care division will earn £9.90 an hour in line with the Real Living Wage, as our lowest hourly rate.

The uplift hopes to recognise and reward support workers on the frontline who consistently deliver high quality, compassionate care to some of the most vulnerable people in society.

Priory CEO Rebekah Cresswell, says: “Having worked in Adult Care, I have first-hand knowledge of the importance of our Support Workers and the challenges they face. I hope this pay rise reinforces how, at Priory, we value care as a career.”

The increase reflects feedback from the Priory Annual Colleague Survey and regional staff forums. It means this year alone Support Workers will have received a total pay increase of 11.1%.

“Care is a vocation with purpose,” continued Rebekah, “and one that is fundamental to our society. That’s why at Priory we’re committed to investing in our Support Workers and supporting them to grow in their roles and careers.”

Support Workers make up 70% of the adult care workforce and are employed throughout the division in specialist residential care, older adults care and supported living services. They enable residents and patients to live as independently as possible, and support with day-to-day tasks including personal care, appointments, meal times, hobbies and activities.
