Progress House in Kilnhurst, Rotherham, has been praised by independent inspectors for the quality of care it offers to the people it supports with learning disabilities and autism.
In its latest report, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) praised Progress House for its "caring and compassionate staff", "person centred support plans" and for "embedding vision and values into the way the home was managed."
The CQC said that "staff were caring and compassionate" and they observed "the staff and people they support talking, laughing and joking together." One resident said that "the staff are all lovely", and another remarked that they were "so supportive and caring."
The CQC commented on how "staff activity encouraged people to engage and maintain their hobbies and interests." One person living at the home said: "I go out a lot; I have been to the pictures today." Another said: "I am going on holiday; I am really excited as I am going on an aeroplane again."
Those living at the home attend 'Your voice' meetings, and raise any issue they wish. The level of staff training at the home, and the support available to staff, was also singled out for praise.
Gail Linacre, general manager said: "We have a very strong team here at Progress House. I am delighted that the people we support are living independent and happy lives here, and we will, of course, continue to do our utmost for them."
