A party, attended by local dignitaries and serenaded by a brass band, has marked the opening of new-look gardens at a care home owned by Priory Adult Care (formerly Amore Care).
The outside space at Rose Lodge, Southport, which has been given a fantastic makeover by volunteers Julie and Ian Nicholson, has been officially opened by the Mayor of West Lancashire Borough Council, Cllr Iain Ashcroft.
Banks Brass Band attended as part of the official opening celebrations, which also included a performance by a local dance troupe, and stalls including cakes and jewellery and a tombola.
The home, in Church Road Banks, which is a modern, purpose-built facility that provides residential and nursing care for older people with a variety of needs, prides itself on offering a caring and comfortable environment both indoors and outdoors.
The new-look outdoor recreational space includes a Memorial Garden, planted up with shrubs, herbaceous plants and bulbs, and an adjoining Rose Garden with an obelisk as a central feature. Residents also are able to relax at a newly installed teak table and six matching chairs
The garden makeover follows the completion of a major refurbishment of the interior at Rose Lodge earlier this year.
Carolyn Ackers, Manager of Rose Lodge, said: “We are really grateful to Julie, whose mum Bridget Watson is one of our residents, and Ian for all the hard work and loving care they have put into creating a fantastic outdoor space.
“Their efforts mean that being out in the fresh air will be an even more pleasant and pleasurable experience for our residents.
“At Priory Adult Care (formerly Amore Care), we pride ourselves on offering a quality environment both inside and outside at our homes.”
The internal investment involved all the communal areas and private en-suite bedrooms being updated and modernised.
Its interior refurbishment was part of a multi-million pound investment programme to further enhance the quality of Amore’s care offering.
