A 'supported living' service that helps those with learning disabilities and mental illness to live in their own house or a shared flat, and operates throughout the Midlands, has been praised as 'good' overall and in every assessment category by the Care Quality Commission.
In their report on Priory Supported Living West Midlands, inspectors from the independent health and social care regulator, said, "All the people we spoke with told us they liked the care staff and were happy when they spent time together". Staff were involved "in all aspects of their lives and they felt they had formed positive relationships with them".
A person supported by Priory Supported Living West Midlands said, "They are so professional and have a good attitude". Another tenant said their keyworker had "good taste and good sense of humour". A tenant's relative said, "Each staff individual is really caring."
The service supports people to live independently. This may involve support to stay healthy and well, secure or maintain a job, learn new skills and hobbies, meet people and build on developing confidence.
The region recently won a top award, the LaingBuisson Award, for 'Specialist Care and Community and Supported Living Services'. A tenant collected the award at a ceremony in London, and said how "amazing" it was.
