Lynbrook care home in Preston, has been praised by independent inspectors for the quality of care it offers to people with severe learning disabilities and autism.
In its latest report the Care Quality Commission (CQC) praised Lynbrook's staff for "communicating with people in a kind and caring way", "supporting people with their activities" and understanding the personal needs of the residents they support. The home was rated 'good' across the board by the CQC.
The CQC said it saw "staff treating people with patience, kindness and affection". It praised the fact that people living at the service were relaxed, saying: "We observed people smiling and laughing with staff."
A resident's relative told an inspector: "The staff are very caring. I feel residents are well looked after there." Another relative said: "The care is fantastic. We have no complaints.” A local healthcare professional told the CQC, she found the staff to be "very knowledgeable and helpful" and said staff were able to provide good care for people with very complex needs.
Lynbrook's residents pursue a wide variety of activities and go on regular outings, which include swimming, walking, visiting garden centres and going to discos. Residents' bedrooms are decorated with photographs, ornaments and keepsakes, in ways which make them personal to them.
Welcoming the CQC's report, service manager, Ron Blair, said: "We are absolutely thrilled. We will keep up the excellent work to ensure that our service continues to operate to a very high standard."
