A local care service in Warrenpoint has recently welcomed eight new residents after it opened a new unit, The Docks, to help cope with demand for its services.
The Docks is part of Carlingford Lodge and has an excellent arts and activities room. The new bedrooms are well decorated and there are communal areas for residents to relax in.
A recent open day gave prospective residents an opportunity to look around the new home and see for themselves the great work that is taking place at Carlingford Lodge.
Carlingford Lodge has a mini-bus to which residents from the whole site have access. Residents go on many outings to cafes, libraries and local tourist attractions and take part in many activities they enjoy.
The site supports up to 74 people with physical and dementia needs who require assistance and care.
It is a modern, purpose-built nursing home, in Newry designed to meet the needs of older people with comfortable lounge and dining areas.
The attractive enclosed gardens and patio provide residents with a relaxing place to sit and enjoy the outdoors. The homely and comfortable environment Carlingford Lodge provides enables Priory to provide person-centred care tailored to the needs of residents.
There is also visiting aromatherapist providing holistic therapies, teams of volunteers who support residents and help with activities and a visiting hairdresser.
Social and leisure organisers tailor the activities on a daily basis to meet the needs of our residents. All are encouraged to share their life stories and to create memory boxes, which enhance person-centred care and support. Residents can also go on our regular trips to places such as shops, garden centres and local parks.
Paula Magee, Deputy Manager at Carlingford Lodge, said: “It has been so nice to welcome our new residents at Carlingford Lodge. It has also been a pleasure to work with our new team who have come to help us.”
Roberta Wilson, Regional Director at Priory Adult Care: “Carlingford Lodge is a really nice place to live and the expansion is an exciting time for the service and Priory Adult Care in Northern Ireland.”
