Care home is praised for friendly staff
Kingfisher care home in Sutton-on-Hull, for adults with mental health needs, has been rated ‘good’ by the independent health and social care regulators the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in all five categories: “Is the service safe?”, “responsive” “effective”, “caring” and “well-led”.
Following its inspection, the CQC said, “One person we spoke with told us, ‘Staff are brilliant, will help you do anything’ and ‘staff are approachable any time’. We observed staff were friendly and professional with people.”
The inspectors went on to say, “We saw people have given positive feedback in surveys about how staff respected their privacy, dignity and independence. People also confirm with us that they were supported to be independent and their privacy and dignity were respected.”
They mentioned how “People were encouraged to access community facilities and maintain relationships with friends and family, if this was chosen. Support was provided on an individual or group basis depending on the activity and what level of support was required. We saw this was considered in people’s care plans. One person told us, ‘I have done gardening and grown vegetables in the summer and I will be doing more of the same this year’.”
Heidi Mellors, Deputy Manager at Kingfisher, said: “This is a really positive report and reflects the tremendous amount of work that we do for our residents. I want to take this opportunity to thank my team for contributing so much to Kingfisher.”
Naomi Atkinson, Operations Director at Priory Adult Care, said: “I just want to thank the team there for everything they do in maintaining high standards of care and support. I also want to acknowledge the residents there who clearly make the most of the opportunities they get at Kingfisher.”
