Supporting You in Scotland is part of the Priory Group's adult care division. The service provides housing support and care at home service, that currently supports people in Inverness and Cambuslang with learning disabilities and autism, to live in their own home and lead an active life.
The level of support it offers depends on individual need, ranging from a few hours a day to 24 hours, and the service has strong links with other agencies such as health and social services.
The Care Inspectorate said the quality of care and support was “very good”, as was staffing.
It also praised the quality of management and leadership.
“People we spoke to were very happy with the level of care and support they received,” its report states.
“We found the service was working at a very good level in ensuring service users and carers participate in assessing and improving the quality of care and support.”
It cited monthly ‘Your Voice’ meetings which include planning for holidays and special occasions “which helped ensure people could have social interaction with their friends and neighbours and make the most of their social life.”
The report also highlighted that the people inspectors spoke to told them: ‘I like my staff, they know me well’; ‘Staff are really nice and we have a laugh’; and ‘The staff look at things from my perspective. The service is really, really good.’
Inspectors said plans were tailored to suit individuals’ needs and there was “very good person-centred support. Overall, the service achieved a very good standard in ensuring that people’s care and support needs were met using person centred values.”
Inspectors added: “We observed staff in practice. Values were of a very high standard.”
The report concludes: “Supporting You in Scotland works well with people it supports to deliver a high standard of person-centred care and support.”
