A care home in Kent, Homeleigh Farm, has been rated 'good' overall and in all categories by the health and social care watchdog, the Care Quality Commission (CQC). In the report, inspectors said, "Staff were kind and helpful responding to people's requests for support" and "communal areas were homelike".
A professional, who visits the home to work with residents, told inspectors, "I was always impressed by the family atmosphere where people seemed to get on with each other and with staff."
A social care professional, who visits the home, said to inspectors, "People go on holiday together and there is generally a united feeling". Each resident is supported to celebrate their birthday as they wish, including having a special trip of their choice. They are supported to pursue their own interests: for example, one resident has a bird feeder in the garden so he can look at different types of birds. Other residents regularly go on walks, go shopping and take visits to the cinema.
Residents personalise their bedrooms to their individual tastes, and many choose to have photographs and memorabilia on their wall.
Homeleigh Farm is managed by Priory Adult Care, a new division within the renowned Priory Group, formed in April from bringing together two Priory adult care divisions, Craegmoor and Amore Care. The home supports people with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge. It is located in Romney Marsh, Kent.
Jan Clayton, Registered Manager, said: "I am proud of what my team has achieved here. They all work so hard and always do their utmost for the people they support. We will continue to improve even further."
