Priory Adult Care's Conquest House in Peterborough put on the glitz to help kit out its new sensory room.

The home, which offers care for adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours, and mental health conditions, has undergone a full refurbishment and manager Paul Steward arranged a Glitz and Glamour Ball to help buy additional sensory equipment.

More than £900 was raised to buy an imitation fish tank, bubble tubes and neon string lights to enhance the sensory experience of the residents, particularly those on the autistic spectrum.

Paul Steward is a dedicated carer both inside and outside work with his charitable endeavours raising thousands of pounds for good causes.

The Glitz and Glamour Ball was held at the end of summer and engaged staff, family and friends and the local community in fund-raising initiatives to benefit the Conquest House residents.

Paul said:  “A number of our residents have severe disabilities and the sensory room will be a fantastic addition to the care and therapy already provided.

“The Ball was a great opportunity for people to put on their glad rags, have a fantastic evening and support our residents.

“I organise fundraising events each year, supporting local good causes and decided that this time it would be nice to buy some special multi-sensory equipment for Conquest House.”
