A Southport care home has been praised by independent inspectors working for the Care Quality Commission.
In its latest report, the CQC rated York Road as ‘good’ and praised it for its “kind and compassionate” staff, understanding the needs of the individual, and receiving positive feedback from residents and their relatives.
The inspectors said the staff they observed knew the residents well and were aware of their history, preferences and dislikes.” A resident described staff to inspectors as “great”. A resident’s family member said staff were “very pleasant”, and another relative referred to them as being “very caring”.
The CQC said they received positive feedback from people’s relatives about the Registered Manager, Cathy Madden Murphy. One family member described her as being “very efficient” and another person said she was “very supportive”. All of the relatives the inspectors spoke with said they would recommend York Road to others.
The home works with residents who have varying needs, and communicate with residents via different methods including sign language. Care plans are personalised by residents, and most choose to add their own pictures and drawings to them.
Cathy Madden Murphy, Registered Manager, said: “We are proud of what we have achieved. We will continue the good work. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the people we support and their relatives for helping us to achieve great things.”
