Inspectors say home delivers “personalised care that is flexible”

Wells Road care home in Bristol, for adults with autism and behaviours that challenge, has been rated as ‘good’ across the board by care inspectors, with staff singled out for their “kind and caring approach”.

The home was rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in all five categories: “Is the service safe?”, “responsive” “effective”, “caring” and “well-led”.

Inspectors said they “saw and heard interactions between staff and people at the home that were warm and friendly. Staff members sat beside people while talking. We saw people relaxed and comfortable in the company of staff”.

The home was praised highly in a number of areas, including the way personalised care is delivered. The inspectors said, “People receive personalised care that was flexible to their needs. People had comprehensive, personalised support plans in place.” The inspectors also said, “Staff showed they had a good insight and understanding of people’s likes, dislikes and range of care needs. They clearly understood and respected people’s unique individuality.”

The CQC mentioned the way that “people were supported to enjoy their interests and take part in social activities. There was a broad range of activities on offer at the home. We saw that attention was given to making sure activities reflected people’s interests and preferences. For some people this included being supported into College with establishing a regular routine during the day. Other people’s weekly activities included going out for exercise and attending social groups.”

Wells Road is managed by Priory Adult Care, a division within the renowned Priory Group, the mental healthcare specialists.

Jamie Rossiter, Registered Manager at Wells Road, said: “I am delighted with what inspectors have said about Wells Road and how well staff work with our residents. I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who is involved with the home for their contributions.”

Justine Cahill, Managing Director for the South West and Wales, said: “Wells Road is an excellent care home and I am so pleased that the inspectors appreciate the staff team’s great work. I would like to give a special thanks to Jamie who has done so much for the home, his staff team and its residents.”
