Blair House, a Lincoln-based home for adults with learning disabilities, has been praised by inspectors from the care watchdog.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) said the service was a safe and caring place where residents were treated with warmth and compassion by well-trained and knowledgeable staff.

Inspectors said that care was delivered in a dignified manner and one resident said ‘I’m very safe here with staff’ whilst another commented they ‘felt staff were always there for them and would respond to their needs’.

Visiting relatives told inspectors that they felt staff were very understanding and considerate when helping their loved ones and said they believed it ‘is the best care home possible’.

In their report, the inspectors said residents’ rights to privacy were respected and people living in the home were supported in expressing their views and opinions.

Relatives were made to feel a part of the care their loved ones received and the service was well-led, inspectors said. The home was rated overall as ‘good’.

Blair House, located on Skirth Road in the village of Billinghay, is a home for up to 28 adults with learning disabilities. The grade II listed building is set next to the ancient Roman Kae Dyke, and has been extensively refurbished. Situated in a small village on the edge of Fens, Blair House enjoys the benefits of all the local amenities available within Lincolnshire whilst also having easy access to nearby coastal areas.

Residents are actively encouraged to take part in activities including trips to the local bowling club, and there’s a weekly visit of staff from Lincoln County Football Club who offer sport based therapy.
