Priory Adult Care's Mar Lodge in Melton Mowbray has been nominated for an award reflecting how its residents are treated with respect and dignity.
Mar Lodge has been signed up to Leicestershire County Council’s Dignity Awards following a compliance inspection by the local authority, in which the home was told its work and care deserved to be officially acknowledged.
The home, which now will go forward to an awards ceremony being held at Leicestershire County Hall on November 28, already has its own Dignity Charter in place.
Mark Lilley, Manager of Mar Lodge, said: “Dignity is at the heart of everything we do and it is very pleasing to have the quality of care that we provide at Mar Lodge endorsed by this award nomination.
“I am very proud of my staff and it is testament to their attitude and dedication that the high standard of service we offer is being recognised.
“We already have a Dignity Charter in place, which as well as embracing the ethos of Mar Lodge, publicly demonstrates our commitment to how we respect and care for our residents.”
Mar Lodge provides a supportive environment for adults with learning disabilities to help them meet their full potential and develop life and social skills with the aim of them becoming as independent as possible.
The home aims to encourage individuals and families to actively participate in the planning of support and also works closely with local services such as the community learning disability team, community nurses, psychologists, speech therapists, local health centres, dental, chiropody and other health care services.
