A specialist care home in Cambuslang for adults with autism and other learning disabilities has been praised by independent inspectors working for the Care Inspectorate.
In its latest report, the Care Inspectorate rated Millburn Homes as ‘very good’ and praised it for working “closely with community health professionals” and “supporting people to attend a range of community resources”.
The home is managed by Priory Adult Care part of the world-famous Priory Group, specialists in mental healthcare.
The inspectors said that residents attend “colleges, social clubs, leisure centres and cultural centres… People are supported to maintain relationships and make new ones. One relative told us, ‘My brother alone has three clubs a week to go to at night.’ Another told us, ‘He’s out all the time, he has a better social life than me’.”
Residents spoke positively about the home to the Care Inspectorate. One resident said, “I like it a lot here; it’s like a big family I’ve got here”, and another person said, ”We get nice dinner in here.”
A resident’s relative said to inspectors, “The care he gets here is brilliant”, and another person said, “He goes out all the time and chooses where to go on holiday”.
Millburn is located in Cambuslang, Glasgow. It supports adults with learning disabilities, mental health conditions and autism.
The service has risen two grades over the last two years and has now improved on last year’s rating of 4 ‘good’ to 5 ‘very good’, in all categories inspected.
Martin Hunter, Registered Manager, said: “I am very pleased with the results of our recent inspection and the increase in grades over the last two years is evidence of the positive results of all the hard work put in by the team. This is all for the benefit of our residents, making sure that they have as good a quality of life as possible.
