Anchor House care home in Poole has been rated as 'good' for the quality of care it provides the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
In its report, which follows a recent inspection, the CQC praised the home for: treating the people they support with "kindness and compassion", offering a "range of activities at home and out", its use of Your Voice meetings and having a "positive culture that was person centred."
The CQC described the home as "welcoming" and having a "relaxed atmosphere". Residents and their relatives spoke highly of staff and the service to inspectors. A relative said, "I couldn't get better care", and another relative said the home had "a lovely, calm, happy atmosphere". A resident said staff were "cool."
Residents "regularly went out with support from staff, both locally in their wheelchairs and further afield... Some went for a trip to the beach".
The home "had a positive culture that was person-centred, open, inclusive and empowering". Residents could suggest any ideas or changes they had at monthly Your Voice meetings. Any information was provided in a simple pictorial format so that everyone could be involved.
Its new Registered Manager, Sara Layden, has made vast improvements to the home and helped to make it the great success that it is.
Anchor House, located in Poole, in Dorset, and it provides residential support to people with physical, learning disabilities and behaviours that can challenge.
Sara Layden, Registered Manager, said: "Everyone who works here is so proud of what we have achieved. Our team love working with all of the people we support, and we always appreciate it when we receive feedback as positive as that included in this report."
