A care home in Leicester, Halifax Drive, has been rated ‘good’ overall and in all care categories by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the health and social care watchdog.
In the report following their latest inspection, inspectors said, “The culture of the home was open, friendly and welcoming”. They said that the registered manager “got on well with people and was always patient and kind when people spoke with her. Her caring approach set the standard for the service”
Residents spoke positively of the home to inspectors. Their remarks included, “I would say it’s outstanding here”, “I love living here”, “It’s the best place I’ve ever been” and “I really like it. They look after me well”. The registered manager was described as “brilliant” and “my friend”.
The report mentions that residents take part in a range of activities, including going to the men’s group, the art club, discos and the archery club. A resident volunteers in a café and another resident works at the local market.
The inspectors highlighted the fact staff support a resident to attend regional ‘Your Voice’ meetings, where they can share any ideas or suggestions for improvements they have with the home’s provider.
Halifax Drive is managed by Priory Adult Care, a new division within the renowned Priory Group. It brings together two Priory adult care divisions, Craegmoor and Amore Care. The home supports people with learning disabilities and mental health problems, and is located in Leicester.
Carol Smoczynski, Registered Manager, said: “I am so happy with what the inspectors said. We always pride ourselves in our high quality care and support, but it is always good when our work is commended by the CQC.”
Hayden Knight, Managing Director of Priory Adult Care for the South East, said: “I am really pleased with this home. It provides great support and it is brilliant to see that it encourages residents to take part in such a range of activities. With the excellent team it has in place, I am sure that it will continue to be a great success story.”
