York Road

York Road

At York Road, we provide accommodation on a residential basis for five young adults with varying learning disabilities. We specialise in providing support for people with communication difficulties and autism.

Our approach to care

The staff team at York Road strive to provide just the right level of support to individuals so they can achieve a high level of independence. We can also provide 1:1 support where necessary.

All residents at York Road are involved in the creation process of their Person Centred Plans, which exist to allow staff to deliver the best possible service. These plans also give individuals the chance to outline their goals and aspirations, and we will support people to identify what steps are needed to make them happen.

Living at York Road

York Road is a large Victorian house situated on a quiet street, with easy access to public transport. There is a homely and friendly environment at our service which helps the people we care for to feel relaxed and happy in their surroundings. Our five bedrooms are personalised by those people in our service to make York Road feel very much their home.

Outside we have a medium sized garden, where we host plenty of barbecues in the summer months. We also have a large trampoline which is used regularly by those who live at York Road. There is also private transport available which is used for day trips and other off site activities.

A range of activities

Many people we support at York Road regularly get involved in household tasks. These include cleaning and cooking, as we seek to positively promote living skills. Some of the people attend the local college where they are enrolled on life skills courses and others go to their work placement at the local nature reserve.

There is a social club in the village, where those supported at York Road meet up with friends once a week and have a disco. Other favoured leisure activities include horse carriage riding, swimming, cinema visits and bowling.

York Road has great bus and train links to Southport. Just a 15 minute walk from the beach, there are also annual flower and air shows that take place in the area. Numerous events take place at the local theatre, which prove very popular amongst the individuals supported at York Road.
