Sophie* is a lady with a diagnosis of a learning disability. Since moving to Woodpecker Lodge, she has achieved many milestones. Her support team at the service have encouraged her to take up several voluntary work placements, including one at a local nursery group. She is now able to attend these independently. Due to Sophie’s caring nature she excels in this setting.
Sophie also helps out at a several charity shops, where she has many responsibilities, including interacting with the customers, closing up the shop at the end of the day and dealing with money.
In addition, Sophie is also Woodpecker Lodge’s ‘Our Voice’ representative. She represents the home’s residents in quarterly meetings with the region’s other representatives. She is also responsible for hosting meetings at Woodpecker Lodge. Due to her success in this role, Sophie was invited to be involved in the process of recruiting new senior leaders within Priory.
Within her home, Sophie is heavily involved in her activities of daily living. She especially enjoys cooking and baking. She can often be found helping in the kitchen being supported by staff and helping with household tasks.
Sophie’s support team have a great understanding of the support that she requires and this enables Sophie to be able to achieve her goals and wishes.
