Living at The Wheelhouse

Our home is set back off a private road and is situated in the centre of a large garden. Some of our bedrooms have a view of the sea and the coast. Everyone is encouraged and supported to personalise their bedrooms in line with their tastes and preferences.

The Wheelhouse also has a spacious lounge, two dining rooms, a large fully equipped kitchen, and a laundry room.

A range of activities

There are many activities to get involved with at The Wheelhouse, both in and out of the service, and everyone helps to choose and plan which activities are available. Some activities include shopping, going out for meals, going to the cinema and attending the local sports centre.

Each person supported by the service formulates a daily/weekly planner that encompasses social and educational activities. Some of these activities include: horse riding at the local RDA school, swimming, day centres, cinema, bowling, nature walks, music sessions, and independent living skills.

We aim not only to encourage community participation but also to play an active meaningful role within the community. The home places an emphasis on ensuring that where there is a reflected need for an advocate this service is facilitated to further adhere to the needs of the individual.

The Wheelhouse is located on the edge of St Leonards-on-Sea and is 1.5 miles from the town centre, the main line station and the coast. The local area provides access to all major amenities; including a town shopping centre, several superstores, a cinema, a sports centre, the sea front and pier, large parks and good local transport facilities.
