Our approach to care
Within our team we have a range of professionals with specialist experience of working with people who have autism and challenging behaviours which include our positive behaviour analyst, education and activity co coordinator, speech and language and occupational therapist along with our teams of support staff. Each member of staff receives training in specific areas including: mandatory training; positive behaviour support; autism; communication and sensory awareness; record keeping and de-escalation techniques.
We work alongside funding authorities and their specialist teams and we access local services for psychiatric and psychological input and a range of health services suited to each person’s needs. Everyone who lives at Oxen Barn is assigned a key worker who takes a lead in each individual’s support and maintaining links with their family.
“I really enjoy living here. You have helped me to become much more independent.”
