Ogilvie Court

Through our services at Ogilvie Court, we provide leading person-centred support for 25 men and women over the age of 18, who have a learning disability and a range of other needs. Some of our residents are autistic, have physical disabilities, or may present behaviours that challenge.

Situated within four acres of private gardens and woodlands in a peaceful, rural location near to the village of Earls Colne, our service offers 24/7 specialist residential care in a community setting.

Facilities at Ogilvie Court

The home consists of 25 bedrooms within 4 houses, all of which are single occupancy and decorated to meet the tastes and needs of each individual. Each house has spacious communal areas including a lounge, kitchen and secure gardens.

Ogilvie Court also has its own resource and horticultural centres which are specifically designed to provide a range of daily activities to help an individual develop their independence and social skills. We provide opportunities as well for residents to participate in a wide variety of community-based activities including college courses and social engagement.

Support at Ogilvie Court

Ogilvie Court employs and use a comprehensive and highly skilled team who are experienced in supporting individuals with a wide range of conditions. Our aim is to deliver an increasing sense of self-management and empowerment that will lead to more independent living.

We work in partnership with a behavioural psychologist, music therapist, support workers and speech and language therapists. We also work closely with local community teams including GPs, chiropodists and dietitians.

Activities at Ogilvie Court

Ogilvie Court has its own resource and horticultural centres which are specifically designed to provide a range of daily activities to enable individuals to develop their independence and social skills, with the help of a dedicated activities co-ordinator.

With the support of our expert staff and by using step-by-step programmes, these skills include:

  • Communication skills
  • Cooking
  • Food shopping
  • Gardening
  • Healthy eating
  • Laundry
  • Maintaining their own houses
  • Pottery

We have a daily activities programme based on individual interests and abilities. People decide what they want to do based on their person-centred plan, as well as through the discovery of further hobbies and activities.

Our residents can also access local college courses to further develop their independence and social skills including arts and crafts, dancing, food hygiene, health and safety, IT, literacy, and music.
