Notts Hill House
Situated in a quiet area of Torquay, Notts Hill House (formerly known as Rosehill) provides person-centred support for up to 16 adults with an acquired brain injury (ABI) physical disabilities and/or mild learning disabilities in a homely environment.
We operate a professional service including access to physiotherapy and occupational therapy. The people that we support are assessed prior to admission and placements are offered with outcome-led goals in mind.
Support plans and goals are reviewed regularly to reflect the individual’s progress throughout their stay. The support provided by Notts Hill House is also tailored to the individual’s needs, wishes and aspirations, with a focus on developing the skills and confidence to live a safe, independent and fulfilling life.
Living at Notts Hill House
Whilst the home still retains many of its Victorian features, it has undergone adaptations to provide specialist support for those with physical disabilities. This includes overhead hoists, a lift to access all floors and an Arjo accessible hydro-spa bath. Our residents at Notts Hill House have the optional use of their own kitchen, where we encourage the development of independent living skills. There is also a commercial kitchen which caters for all individual tastes and dietary requirements.
On the top floor of the property, there is a gymnasium where residents can maintain fitness and physical wellbeing, with the option of working with our physiotherapist to increase their functional skills. Notts Hill House also benefits from a large picturesque garden with wheelchair accessible decking for residents wishing to make use of the outdoor space.
A wide range of activities
A wide range of daily activities are available within the service at Notts Hill House and people are encouraged to participate in areas of interest to them. We are passionate about connecting people to the community in which they live, and aim to match people’s skills and interests with opportunities in the community to maximise their social connectedness.
Notts Hill House also provides support to individuals wishing to begin, or continue their education, training, volunteering and employment, having established relationships with local options nearby. The service has strong links with local health professionals and complementary support services encouraging a multidisciplinary approach. The service also benefits from a visiting GP service which is essential for a number of individuals who may not be able to access a local surgery.

The people that live at Notts Hill House are supported using a person-centred approach, providing a package of care and support that meets the individual’s goals and aspirations.
We understand that each person has different needs, interests and hobbies, which is why personal input is so important. Our aim is to deliver a high quality service that enables people to maximise their independence.
Our specialist services
We provide a wide range of specialist services and facilities for the people we support. This includes:
- Accommodation comprising of 14 mostly en-suite bedrooms and a 2-bedded annexe property, and wet rooms with disabled access
- All floors are connected by a large lift
- Communal areas, including lounges and activity rooms with computer access
- Hydrotherapy bathroom with piped music and subdued lighting
- Occupational therapy kitchen
- Fully-equipped gymnasium
- Extensive private gardens with wheelchair-accessible decked area and views over Torquay
- 3 vehicles to support our residents to use community facilities, including a vehicle adapted to provide wheelchair access
- A highly skilled and dedicated staff team
- Community and home-based activities
- A location close to shops and amenities, and within easy reach of the coast
An environment offering pathways
Our facilities are designed to offer a transitional pathway through the service, with progression into an apartment-style room and then to a transitional independent living flat. This supports greater emphasis on positive outcomes and helps to increase the effective discharge to wider community, independent living.
Developing independence skills
Notts Hill House provides innovative person-centred support programmes and personal activity planners. Residents are actively involved in the formulation of a personalised plan of personal skills development and growth opportunities which support a range of skills including:
