Cragston Court
Cragston Court is a 20-bedded community rehabilitation service for individuals with enduring mental health needs. Located in Blakelaw, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, our home provides 24-hour specialist residential care to people from a variety of backgrounds, including people stepping down from an in-patient setting or stepping up from the community.
We also support individuals whose placements elsewhere may have broken down, who may need more intensive support to continue their recovery journey.
Our approach to care
We want the best for the people in our care and place great importance on outcomes and quality of life. We look at what can be achieved for each person using a person-centred approach and taking into account their abilities, interests and needs in their individually tailored care plans.
Our home promotes recovery to the highest standard and encourages the involvement of other professionals in order to help residents along their journey. We focus on encouraging our residents to develop the daily living skills and independence they need to move towards community living.
Our residents are each assigned a key worker, who ensures that each individual is actively involved in the review of their care, so they can keep track of their achievements and aspirations. Residents can also have their thoughts and opinions heard within monthly residents' meetings, via Priory Adult Care's communication strategy 'Our Voice.'
Our facilities
Our aim is to help the people we support to re-join a meaningful place in the community. We do this not only with the care that we provide, but with an environment that offers facilities of a high standard. These include:
- Beautifully decorated bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, fully equipped domestic kitchens and French doors
- A patio area which leads onto enclosed gardens
- Two lounges, one of which is aimed at recreation and includes cooking facilities to enable independence within a person’s recovery
- A conservatory for relaxation and where professional meetings can take place
- Enclosed gardens with 24/7 access
- Full wheelchair access across the home
