Family and friends FAQs

How does home leave work?

We support family members to ensure our residents can attend home visits and events. With staff support and risk assessments in place, there is no limit to visiting time.

Can friends and families visit?

Friends and family are welcome to visit at any time and participate in the events and activities of the home. We welcome suggestions from families and friends to include in events and to improve the home. We do have a protected meal time, however we welcome those who wish to be present with their loved one during meals.

Will I be involved and kept up to date with the progress of my loved one’s care and support?

We hold monthly meetings with friends and family on a face-to-face basis. In addition, we review care plans every three months, and family and friends are invited to be part of this process.

Will my loved one be able to have a phone or call me?

All residents can call their family and friends from the landline phones at any time. Individuals are able to have their own personal mobile phones, too.

What type of things are families expected to provide, and what is provided by the home?

Bedrooms all come furnished, and our catering team will also supply residents with meals, drinks and snacks. Families are expected to provide personal items such as clothing, toiletries, and décor items to personalise their bedroom.

What are the bedrooms like?

The bedrooms all come furnished with a bed, wardrobe and a chest of drawers. If someone has a special chair or pictures, ornaments or other items of décor, we encourage them to bring them with to personalise their space.

Are external doors kept locked?

Our external doors are kept locked due to the nature of our service, but we do have a large garden which residents can always go out and sit in as they please.

What do residents eat and how do meal times work?

Meals are cooked fresh daily, and we have a dedicated company which supplies us with fresh food. Residents are given choices with their food daily, and food will be served by the chef. Staff are on-hand to support residents during mealtimes.

Dietary needs and preferences will be considered, and where special dietary requirements are present, our chefs can accommodate, as they have been trained to prepare food according to specialist diets.

How does laundry work?

Clothes and bedding are washed on-site by our team, although family and friends are welcome to take laundry home to wash if they wish to do so. Each individual has their own box in the laundry room, where their washed clothes are kept before being arranged into their wardrobe. Nonetheless, we do recommend that personal items are properly labelled.

Is there anything they can’t bring or have?

We may place restrictions on items where risks cannot be appropriately managed. Medications are stored centrally by our team. We ask that you do not bring valuables such as family heirlooms.

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately we don't allow pets to live in.

How do activities work?

We have an activities co-ordinator, who organises a variety of home activities. Our team will deliver bespoke activities, which are personalised to each resident’s individual hobbies and interests.

Do residents and families have an input into the care plans?

Families will be involved in the development of support plan for their loved one at the point of them coming to live with us. We will review these regularly with families to ensure they are always kept up-to-date and reflect the individual’s needs.

What are the car parking facilities?

Our home has a free car parking area.

What is the smoking policy?

There is a dedicated smoking and vaping sheltered area outside the building. Our staff team will always accompany residents to the smoking shelter to smoke if they need to. Smoking is not permitted inside the building.

We accept the following funding types: local authority funding, local authority funding and top up, NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding, and private/self-funding.
